Summer Eastern Sierra Backpack

What: Short 5-day backpack to Green Lake/East Lake, 3.5 miles in, camping at scenic lakes

When: For either August 4-9 or August 8-13; we should avoid these Troop 566 dates: Chawanake (June 6/15 to 6/21), Saratoga to the Sea (target July 4 +- week), Hi Sierra (July 27 - Aug 2), Camp Wente (Aug 10-16)

Where:

Destination: Green Creek to Green Lake/East Lake (N38*5', W119*18') -- see distributed PDF. Drive through Yosemite, then north of Mono Lake on 395 about 15 miles to the "Green Creek" turnoff. Hike: about 3.5 miles, gain 1,400' (about 3.5 hours total backpack time). Base camp: at East Lake, with day hikes to West, Green, Summit lakes, several peaks
